Description
- The training manual provides information about autism. It also includes a tool for determining clusters of traits that may match with particular guidelines for working with the children effectively. There are directions for setting up a schedule, the content for each day of instruction, how to teach new skills, how to manage behavior, and more.
- This 132-page paperback features internal pages in color and comes with a spiral binding. The book measures 8.5 x 11 inches.
- The daily communication sheet makes for easy communication to the caregivers about the school day.
- In many schools, class begins with an activity that includes greeting and routinizing the study of daily life. In the Kit, this set of activities is called the Morning Meeting. There are several pages of picture prompts to move through the routine. Again, it is advisable to teach one activity and repeat use of the picture for that activity and model what happens during that activity many times before adding the next activity in the morning meeting. Starting small and gradually building is a good strategy for teaching children with autism. In order to complete the morning meeting materials, please cut and fold the 2 pockets labeled “home” and “school” and use a hot glue gun to adhere the pockets to the first page of the morning meeting materials. Eventually, build up to sequencing all of the activities in the morning meeting and repeat them daily to reinforce all of the concepts contained in the activities.
