Description

  • The Visual Communication Book includes 240 visual communication cards that are organized into categories. Each page has 12 pictures affixed with Velcro. The pages are tabbed and color-coded by category. The Velcro is very sturdy. To make it easier for children to remove the pictures, pull each picture off and replace it a few times.
  • Although the visual communication book is designed to serve children with autism, it also helps children with articulation and language difficulties, as well as patients with apraxia, to improve communication.
  • The visual communication book serves various purposes, including labeling, identifying, and sorting. Its main function is to provide a visual support system that teaches children quick, self-initiating communication skills. Starting with simple cards exchanges, the cards help build sentence structures, e.g., “I feel hungryā€¯, “I need a break,” etc.
  • No need to print, cut, or laminate. All cards come organized in tabbed, color-coded chapters inside a nicely designed heavy-duty binder.
  • It is designed for children with autism to help them understand expectations and manage their actions. Provides clear guidelines on appropriate behaviors and uses non-verbal instructions to manage behaviors.
  • The binder measures approximately 15 x 15.6 x 3 inches. Each picture card in the communication book measures 2.5 x 2.5 inches.
  • The Communication Book will get a lot of use. To increase the durability of the pages, consider adding self-adhesive hole reinforcements. These are often sold on a sheet or in a roll for easy dispensing.
  • It is highly recommended to purchase the extra cards, which come in small boxes of colors that match the tabs we sell separately. This way, you can easily remove pictures already in the book and substitute them with pictures that are a higher priority for the children you work with.
